GIRLS’ EDUCATION IS A BASIC HUMAN RIGHT
Our Mission
We are dedicated to improving the lives of impoverished girls in Cambodia by providing them essential resources and support.
What We Believe
We believe that every girl deserves the right to education, medical care, dental health, and vision of the highest possible quality.
Our Vision
By meeting these critical needs, we will break the cycle of poverty, creating a brighter future for these girls and their country.
EDUCATION
Our educational program provides girls with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in school and beyond the traditional classroom. We provide instruction on life skills, mentorship, digital technology, and other technical resources.
EMPOWERMENT
We are passionate about making positive impacts and committed to empowering girls to reach their full potential. We believe that our work will create a world where all girls have the opportunity to thrive and succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.
HEALTH
We understand the importance of overall well-being and high-quality medical, dental, and eye health. Moreover, we know that the LACK of these has severely detrimental effects on learning. Our medical, dental, and vision programs provide comprehensive prevention, treatment, and maintenance to optimize physical and mental health.
The Problem: The Cambodian educational system is plagued by detrimental factors:
GENDER
Girls are less likely to attend school than boys due to cultural and economic factors. For example, Cambodian girls are expected to help with household chores or care for younger siblings.
ACCESS
Many children cannot attend school because their families cannot afford tuition or transportation. Many families, in fact, subsist on the wages earned by their children, who must work instead of attending school.
FUNDS
The Cambodian educational system is severely underfunded. Resources for schools and teachers are critically insufficient.
HEALTH
Cambodia has one of the lowest levels of healthcare spending in the world, resulting in low quality healthcare. Most Cambodians have no health insurance, and are forced to pay out of pocket for healthcare services. This creates a significant financial burden for families.
PTSD
Mass executions and forced labor camps of the Khmer Rouge Killing Fields in Cambodia from 1975 to 1979 continue to impact Cambodians today. During the Khmer Rouge regime, education was abolished, and countless teachers and intellectuals were executed. The survivors of the Khmer Rouge regime and their families have experienced incomprehensible trauma as a result of the atrocities.
Our Solution: Provide girls everything required to optimally benefit from a high-quality education and help rebuild Cambodian society.
Together let’s educate and empower girls so that they can fully exercise their rights to equality and prosperity.
We ensure that the quality of our education comprehensively prepares girls for university in Cambodia or elsewhere through:
